Mga Mahal na Kababayan,
Maligayang Pasko at Manigong Bagong Taon!

During this loveliest of seasons, Filipinos at home and abroad come together as a community with their shared traditions and customs. Surrounded by our loved ones, we give thanks for the year that has passed and look with optimism to the year ahead.

Although far from the bright lights of the parol and the smell of roasting castañas, I hope that we all find ourselves among family or friends, whether old or new. If loved ones are not with us during the holidays, may we nonetheless feel the warmth of their love and care, undiminished by distance.

We have many reasons to be grateful and to be full of joy and hope.

The year 2016 has truly been a busy year! We have reached out to our kababayans all over Germany. They never fail to amaze us at the charitable work they do for the country. That’s Christmas the whole year round! We have connected with universities and schools for people to people exchange programs. We have continuously promoted the country as the best travel and investment destinations. Our movies, our artists, our crafts and designs, our food, our music and talents…..they have all found their great exposure moments in many parts of Germany.
Our nurses program for Germany continues to progress, a real win-win situation! The humanitarian work which our German friends have done for the country have been recognized through Presidential Awards.

And the construction of an Embassy building starts in January 2017!! Finally – our own!

As 2016 comes to a close, the Philippine Embassy in Berlin wishes to thank our Filipino-German communities and all our partners for the fellowship and the goodwill, for the cooperation and support. We are grateful for even the simply joys experienced from our encounters with one another.

We wish everyone the blessings of peace, tranquility, hope and love which were experienced by the shepherds thousands of years ago in Bethlehem as they encountered the Christ Child.

    Mabuhay and God bless!!

    Melita Sta. Maria-Thomeczek
